Local High School Students Discuss Race on The Radical Songbook

“Let’s Talk About Race: Conversations with Bend LaPine High School Students of Color” will be aired on The Radical Songbook Friday, December 14 at 10:00 a.m.

Bend LaPine high school students of color will be talking about racism and bullying in their schools on a special edition of The Radical Songbook Friday, December 14, from 10 am to noon. They participated in an historic gathering of 67 students of color in October and will share their experiences at that gathering and in their schools.

Our new transmitter is here!

Our new transmitter is now installed, and word on the street is our broadcast signal is coming in better than ever in Central Oregon.

Many thanks to our supporters who made it possible, including The Collins Foundation, Deschutes County Discretionary Fund, The Old Mill District, and several generous individuals.

Thanks also to our tech crew for getting the installation done and all our volunteers, supporters, and listeners. We would not be here without you.

New Date and Time for Rhythm Trip and Fond Farewell to The Good Stuff

Beginning Tuesday, December 4, DJ Thure will be bringing the live edition of his world music show Rhythm Trip to Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. For those who love it on Saturday at 6:00 pm, never fear. We will be replaying Rhythm Trip then as well.

We do say a sad and fond farewell to The Good Stuff. DJ Harry Godsil retired from KPOV in June and we have been airing encore editions since then.  For the time being, you can still hear encore versions of The Good Stuff Saturday Mornings at 6:00 a.m.

New Show on KPOV — Voices from the Margins

KPOV’s newest show, Voices from the Margins, now airs at 1:00 p.m. every Tuesday. Voices from the Margins is an interview-based show that explores non-dominant cultural narratives and issues impacting marginalized populations.  A rotating cast of five hosts will highlight stories and communities not typically centered in mainstream media.

Tune in to 88.9 FM or kpov.org.

New Show — New York Philharmonic This Week!

We know many of you love classical music, so KPOV is expanding our selection. We are proud to offer our listeners New York Philharmonic This Week, a weekly series of the best in classical music from one of the world’s longest-running and most celebrated orchestras.  New York Philharmonic This Week will air Sundays at Noon.

Combined with Sunday Classics at 10:00 a.m., you can sit back and enjoy hours of great classical music right here on your favorite station.

KPOV to Broadcast City Club Forum

To bring you in-depth discussions of important local issues, KPOV broadcasts live each month from the City Club of Central Oregon Monthly Luncheon Forums. The forums occur on the third Thursday of each month at 11:45 a.m.

Tune in Thursday, December 20 at 11:45 a.m., when the topic will be “FROM INMATE TO NEIGHBOR: What if a felon lives next door?” Listen to City Club of Central Oregon Monthly Luncheon Forums on KPOV at 88.9 FM or live streaming on kpov.org. KPOV archives past Monthly Luncheon Forums at kpov.org/city-club-forums/, so you can listen any time.
