Mike Ficher

Mike’s passion for the oldies was crystallized when he appeared for four years on an American Bandstand-style 50’s Dance Party in the Bay Area in the late 1980’s.  Labeled by host James Gabbert as “our resident trivia expert”, Mike met dancers Dick Vivian, Sid Vaquera and Bill Tinsley who shared their knowledge of the dances of the 50’s and 60’s and their knowledge of the artists, times and songs from that era, planting the seed for the idea of the Ultimate Oldies Show.

The show, which airs Tuesday evenings at 6 pm, is a thematic look at the artists, songs and cultural touchstones of that era.  Embellished with researched anecdotes, artist profiles and fascinating trivia about the songs, the show insures that the music of this dying radio format continues to live and breathe in the new millennium.

In addition to hosting the Ultimate Oldies Show, Mike performs with Triage, a local improvisational comedy troupe, teaches improv to teens through BEAT, is involved with several non-profit and volunteer-based organizations in Bend, is a freelance writer and serves as the voice of Crook County High Schoolsports on AM690 KRCO.  He has appeared in several local television and radio commercials and, recently had a role in the short film “Wings of Faith’, currently in post-production.
