The Big Picture: Photographing the Black Hole at the Center of the Galaxy

Don't let the name fool you: A black hole is anything but empty space. Rather, it is a great amount of matter packed into a very small area. The result is a gravitational field so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. Now, scientists are using linked radio telescopes to get a clearer “picture” of the Milky Way’s own black hole. Dr. Price will guide us as we–and the scientific world–try to understand what seeing the invisible might reveal.
