Bend Downtown Public Library. Democracy as a form of government has been an ideal since antiquity, but in the scope of world history, as a dominant form of governance it has only lasted for relatively short time periods. COCC history professor Murray Godfrey discusses some of history’s most successful and unsuccessful democracies, the circumstances of their rise and fall and implications for the future. The discussion will also be held again on September 21 at 3pm at the Redmond Library. For more information: 541-312-1032.
