JAZZ 'N JAMBALAYA.png

Your host Kurt Kempcke invites you to join him on a musical tour of the Crescent City and Mississippi delta:

“New Orleans is known as the birthplace of Jazz.  Let’s follow the evolution from the Mardi Gras Indians to Jelly Roll Morton to The Meters.  From a French waltz to zydeco.  It’s important to know the history as well as introduce listeners to the latest generation of New Orleans musicians.”

“We’ll be taking a few side trips.  Up I-10 to Baton Rouge for some blues and cajun tunes.  Over to Mississippi to hear the delta blues.  We may go as far north as Tupelo and, if we’ve got enough gas, all the way to Memphis for an evening.  My trips to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival are the inspiration.  A short walk across the fairgrounds covers everything from gospel to swamp rock.  I’ll just provide the map.”
