KPOV’s local program hosts

Andrew Shepard, AKA “ASHEPRock”

Center Stage Sound Engineer and Co-host

Touched by music at a young age, Andrew knew few things could elicit emotions like a good song and he’s been chasing those feelings ever since. Necessity is the mother of invention. Becoming an amateur sound engineer was the result of spinning knobs on guitar amps, 4-track recorders, and sound boards for live bands. An interest in home recording led Andrew to slowly build a modest home studio. In 2005 Andrew produced and hosted one of KPOV’s first interview programs, Conversation Libation where he interviewed local musicians and played their songs on his show. Andrew is honored to once again volunteer with KPOV to co-produce Center Stage almost 20 years later! When he’s not spinning knobs, Andrew can be found mountain biking, skiing, playing with his band, and enjoying the central Oregon lifestyle.

Carrie & Shawn

Fifteen years of marriage, a dozen different bikes, and thousands of miles in their camper van listening to the best of Americana music across every landscape in the US…this is the essence that Carrie and Shawn Barrett bring to Americana Underground, Mondays 10am to 12pm.

A born radio geek, Carrie spent over 15 years working in commercial country radio in Columbus, Ohio and Austin, Texas where her love of acoustic, folk, and Americana music grew strong roots. She always dreamed of becoming a singer/songwriter, but realized it was more fun (and only slightly more lucrative) to be the one playing those songs on the radio.

As a military brat and Air Force vet, Shawn was influenced by his travels and the many cultures where he lived - Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Germany, and Texas…to name a few.

For now, he’s just trying to keep up with Carrie’s “Jeopardy-like” knowledge of whatever tune they are playing!

When not playing, he is listening and studying and becoming an autodidact in all aspects and genres of music.
